Newcastle upon Tyne: part two

On our way to Castle Keep.


There it is! The Castle Keep of Newcastle upon Tyne was built by Henry II between 1168-1178, it is one of the finest surviving examples of a Norman Keep in the country.

kittiwakes are nesting on and around Tyne Bridge, Newcastle is the most inland breeding colony of these seabirds anywhere in the world.

This was day one in Newcastle! At night we went to the cinema and saw Water for the Elephants. Beautiful movie.. Check back tomorrow for part three!
